StreetDance is, quite simply, Britain's answer to American dance movies like Step Up or Center Stage. But to dismiss this as "just another dance movie" is also unfair. It is actually an entertaining and energetic film with a good young cast and an interesting plot. There are excellent dance sequences and music sprinkled throughout.

The story centers around Carly (Nichola Burnley) who, with her boyfriend Jay, are members of a dance crew called Jay 2.0. Jay, the leader, decides to quit after they secure their place in the Street Dance finals and leaves the team's leadership to Carly. Unprepared and in shambles, the team threatens to fold until an interesting offer comes from Helena (the always fabulous Charlotte Rampling), one of the heads of a prestigious ballet academy. If Carly and her team can teach street dance to and inspire her struggling ballet students, Carly's team can practice at the school.
