Review : 5 star movie, 2 stars for shoddy treatment and extras
OK to clear up some confusion about the latest incarnation of "The Muppet Movie" this edition is celebrating the fact that Kermit always a bit green around the gills is 50 years old. That said I'm completely unimpressed with this edition of a classic family movie. I'll get to the reasons why in just a bit in the meantime here's a recap of the plot for those of you who have forgotten what its about.

Discovered by a big time agent (Dom DeLuise) playing his banjo among the reeds and lilly pads, Kermit (Jim Henson) moves to Hollywood for fame and fortune. Along the way he hooks up with Miss Piggy (Frank Oz), Fozzie Bear (Frank Oz) and other Muppets who are looking for their road to the big time. Kermit is pursued by Doc Hopper (Charles Durning) who wants to open a chain of fast food frog leg restaurants. He hopes to make Kermit his company mascot. Along the way Kermit and his friends meet a who's who of Hollywood's funniest comedians along the way. Featuring a who's who list...

Review : 4 Stars For Film, 3 Stars For Blu-Ray

In whole, It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie is an overall satisfying and refreshing TV movie, and one of the best of the muppet movies, 4/5. The Blu-Ray however is okay. There's nothing new this time around. At least with the 2010 release we got a dumb CD filled with holiday songs, and widescreen format. There are no new bonuses, and the two that were booted from the 2010 DVD, but were on the 2003 DVD include Inside Pepe's Studios, Muppet Biographies, and Hidden Easter Eggs are not included. Even with that being said, it's still really nice for this film to see the light of Blu-Ray, and the Digital HD with UltraViolet is neat, so I guess $14 for a good film, and decent special features, including outtakes and deleted scenes makes this Blu-Ray a good buy if you already don't own the film. If you do own the film on VHS then you should upgrade, but if you own the 2010 or 2003 DVD then it's your choice, unless you want to upgrade to a Blu-Ray, and out it part of your collection.
